Yow was trained at The Royal Ballet School. He joined the Sadlers Wells Royal Ballet and was soon promoted to Principal Dancer, before moving with them as the company became the Birmingham Royal Ballet. He later danced with Cleveland/San Jose Ballet, and Hong Kong Ballet companies.
In 1996, Yow returned to the Royal Ballet School to complete his teaching course for professional dancers and gained a licentiate qualification from the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing. He also holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of London.
Yow is currently a faculty member of English National Ballet School, having previously taught at Elmhurst Ballet School, The Royal Ballet School, Central School of Ballet, the Laban Centre, and London Studio Centre. He has taught for Hong Kong Ballet, Cincinnati Ballet, and the Michael Clark Company, and is regularly invited to teach internationally at summer schools and workshops in the UK, Italy, South Africa, Japan, China and Hong Kong.
