Artistic Director Dutch National Ballet Academy

"I have watched each and everyone of you with absolute pleasure in your wonderful class work and variations during the competition. Although we unfortunately couldn't see you live, I could feel your energy, passion and dedication through the wonderful work you shared. In this strange time, often overpowered by Covid regulations, I believe ballet, our beloved artform, needs new voices, hope and creativity more then ever. Seeing you, the young generation that will continue to inspire many people around the globe with your technique and artistry, has given me so much hope for the future. The incredible amount of talent on display has shown me that the future of ballet is bright.. very bright! "

“ I very much enjoyed watching the candidates perform their class work and variations. It was so encouraging to see such spirit and determination shine through in what has been a very difficult year for us all. It was also reassuring to see some excellent training during the class work and would highlight how important it is to also present your classwork with a sense of performance, especially in a competitive environment, all good practice for future auditions. Congratulations to you all and thank you to your teachers and parents who work so hard to support and nurture you. Keep working hard and love what you do”

"The aim of a ballet competition is to give a goal to dancers, in their classwork, to develop both technically and artistically. It gives challenges in abilities, musicality, movement quality and technical achievement to become a more refined dancer. I've always believed that after having good teachers and coaches, the responsibility to improve become a part of each dancer's personality. You become your own best teachers, in effect. Competitions give you a goal in which to express that."

"Warm congratulations to everyone who took part in this year’s online edition of the Asian Grand Prix International Ballet Competition. I want to applaud each of one of you for successfully presenting your classwork and repertoire in particularly challenging circumstances. Whatever the results, we want to celebrate your success, reflecting on some fantastic performances.

I am sincerely hoping that I get to see you perform in person next year."
