Adam SAGE

Ballet Philippines

Adam Sage has enjoyed a four-decade performing, teaching, coaching, directing and choreographic career that has spanned four continents.

 

Mr. Sage has served as the Associate Artistic Director of Ballet Philippines, Founder/Artistic Director of Missouri Ballet Theatre, Artistic Director of Virginia School of the Arts, Ballet Master of Nashville Ballet and School Director of School of Nashville Ballet.

 

He began his ballet studies in his hometown of San Diego with the United States International University Conservatory, before moving on to dance professionally with Pacific Northwest Ballet, Ballet Philippines, Ballet West, Hong Kong Ballet, N.A.P.A.C. Dance Company – South Africa, Ballet Memphis and Nashville Ballet.

 

Mr. Sage has performed principal roles in all of the ballet classics as well as in works by such dance luminaries as Dame Nanette DeValois, Sir Kenneth McMillan, Sir Frederick Ashton, George Balanchine, Andre Prokovsky, John Cranko, John Butler, Harold Lander to mention a few. He had the honor of dancing at the Opera House at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C., the opening of the Hong Kong Cultural Center and at the Cultural Center of the Philippines.

 

He has choreographed over 40 pieces including full length The Nutcracker, Cinderella, A Midsummer Nights Dream, Dracula and The Little Mermaid which he restaged for Cape Town City Ballet, Cape Town South Africa in 2018.

 

Mr. Sage has coached dancers that have competed in the first “Beijing International Ballet Competition” in Beijing China, the prestigious “Prix de Lausanne International Ballet Competition” in Lausanne Switzerland, Youth America Grand Prix as well as the “American Ballet Competition” in Miami Florida were he also served on the jury panel for two years. He will have the honor of serving on the Jury panel of the Asian Grand Prix competition for 2021.

 

He has been teaching for over 40 years with such institutions as School of Ballet Philippines, California Ballet School, Ballet West Academy, Hong Kong Ballet, Ballet Memphis, Nashville Ballet and has been a guest Master Teacher in Europe, Asia and across the United States.

 

Mr. Sage has trained and mentored students that have gone on to dance professionally with Ballet West, Texas Ballet Theatre, Houston Ballet, Scottish Ballet, North Carolina Dance Theatre, Carolina Ballet, Miami City Ballet, Ballet Memphis, Nashville Ballet, Alberta Ballet, Hanover State Opera Ballet, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre, `Martha Graham Dance Company, Paul Taylor Dance Company, LA Dance Project as well as in numerous Broadway touring shows.
