2025 Rules and Regulations
Mission
AGP was created to provide a unique platform for international dancers to learn from a panel of esteemed ballet experts. With a focus on education and artistry, we emphasize personal growth over mere competition. We introduced classical and contemporary ballet classes in 2017, and our commitment to excellence has led to significant developments over the years.
AGP Global Regionals and AGP Video Audition

Detailed information of locations, time and venue will be announced on the AGP website at least 30 days before each competition.

VIDEO-AUDITION
Age and divisions
AGP is for female and male dancers aged 9 to 21 of any nationality. Candidates are divided into Divisions listed below. Age is defined by 1st August 2025.

Only Junior B and Senior Division candidates are allowed to perform variations with pointe shoes. If any lower division candidates perform variations with pointe shoes, 10 points will be automatically deducted from their scores.
Jury and tutors
AGP invites international dance experts and educators to be jury and tutors. Details will be announced on AGP website at least 30 days before competition.
Scoring System for regional competitions and video auditions
Candidates’ performance will be scored by juries according to the following ratio:
Classical solo stage performance: 60% | Classical ballet class: 40%
Contemporary solo stage performance: 100% (if any)
Procedure of Competition
AGP Global Regional Competitions (AGP Global Regionals) are PHYSICALLY held in different cities globally. AGP Video Audition is also arranged for the candidates who cannot join the AGP Global Regionals. Selected candidates from the AGP Global Regionals and AGP Video Audition are invited to join the AGP Finals Competition (AGP Finals). The AGP Pas de Deux category was canceled in 2016 and re-established as a competition division event; each pas de deux couple needed to qualify through video auditions to enter the AGP Finals.
General registration condition
Registration fee is non-refundable. AGP reserves the right to deny any registration at its discretion. Any change of registered information including variation selection must be sent to AGP by email 30 days before the competition, and approved by the AGP management. An administrative fee of HK$1,000 will be charged for each change of information within 30 days or during the competition.

Only Junior B and Senior Division candidates are allowed to perform variations with pointe shoes. If any lower division candidates perform variations with pointe shoes, 10 points will be automatically deducted from their scores.
AGP Global Regional Procedure

Classical variation is mandatory, Contemporary dance is optional.

Candidates take Classical Technique classes and present variations at the venue. Any candidates who do not take Classical Technique classes will be disqualified.

Classical variation - Candidates must choose their variation from “AGP 2025 Classical Variation List” and perform with the music provided by AGP. No alteration of the music is allowed.

Contemporary - Candidates must choose the music from “AGP 2025 Contemporary Music List” and perform with the music provided by AGP, with their own choreography. No alteration of the music is allowed.

Prizes and selected candidates to the AGP Finals will be announced on the same day of the performance.
AGP Global Regionals Prizes & Scholarships

Physical medals and certificates will be presented on stage.

AGP Global Regionals Chairman Scholarships – These scholarships may be presented to the candidates who show potential in ballet.
AGP Video Audition – Solo Division

AGP Video Audition is offered for the candidates who cannot join the Global Regionals.

Candidates must upload a video according to the AGP Video Audition Requirements through the assigned link on or before the cut-off date.

Video must be newly recorded.

Video Audition is held for the purpose of selecting the candidates to the AGP Finals only, NO PRIZES WILL BE GIVEN.

Selected candidates to enter AGP Finals will be announced on the AGP website and social media after all the AGP Global Regionals are completed in June 2025.
AGP Video Audition – Pas de Deux Division

Candidates are required to join the Video Audition and get the qualifications to participate in the AGP Finals 2025 Pas de Deux Division.

There is no Pas de Deux Division in the Physical Regional Competition.

Candidates must choose their Pas de Deux repertoire from “AGP 2025 Classical Pas de Deux List” and perform with candidates’ own music.

Pas de Deux candidates must enter the competition as a pair. Qualification of entering the Finals is only valid for the same participating pair.

Candidates must upload a video according to the AGP Video Audition Requirements through the assigned link on or before the cut-off date.

Video must be newly recorded.

Video Audition is held for the purpose of selecting the candidates to the AGP Finals only, NO PRIZES WILL BE GIVEN.

AGP Global Regionals and Video Audition Registration

Candidates must complete the online Asian Grand Prix 2025 Registration Form, and settle the required fee by credit card or Hong Kong Alipay on or before the listed due date.

AGP Finals
AGP Finals Date & Location

AGP Finals 2025 will be held on 11~16 August, 2025, at Aliw Theatre, Star City, Manila, the Philippines. Details of the Finals will be announced to the candidates directly.

AGP Finals Procedure

Master Classes by renowned ballet experts as well as by the members of the jury will be held during the period, which are compulsory to attend.

There will be Final - 1st Rounds held on Day 1 to Day 4 to select the candidates for the Final - Final Round held on Day 5.

Performance A & B candidates - must perform one Classical Ballet Solo from AGP 2024 Classical Variation List and perform with the music provided by AGP. No alteration of the music is allowed.

Junior A & B, Senior candidates - must perform one Classical Ballet Solo from AGP 2025 Classical Variation List and one Contemporary Ballet Solo (following the set choreography provided by AGP). Contemporary choreography information will be released after all the AGP Global Regionals are completed in June 2025. There will be contemporary rehearsal sessions offered by the choreographers during the event.

Pas de Deux candidates - must perform two Classical Pas de Deux (Entrance, adage and coda only) from 2025 Classical Pas de Deux Répertoire List, one for the 1st round and another one for the final round. Rehearsal room will be provided to every pair during the Finals for candidates self practice.

Asian Grand Prix Award - offered to candidates aged 15 to 21 who demonstrate exceptional standard of artistry and technique in class and on stage during competition. Winner receives a trophy, a certificate, and HK$60,000. (Participation in the Solo division is compulsory)

Youth Asian Grand Prix Award - offered to candidates aged 13 to 17 who demonstrate exceptional standard of artistry and technique in class and on stage during competition. Winner receives a trophy, a certificate, and HK$40,000, as a relief fund for the purpose of continuing education; the award is exclusively available to AGP-designated partner schools.

AGP Finals Scholarship and Direct Entry - offered by renowned international dance institutes, to candidates who demonstrate high potential of becoming future professional dancers during competition.

AGP Ballet Intensive Program (BIP) 2026 Scholarship - offered by AGP, to candidates who demonstrate high potential during competition.

Gold/ Silver/ Bronze Medals – offered to candidates in each division, who demonstrate high standards of artistry and technique in class and on stage during competition. Each winner receives a medal, a certificate, and cash stated as below:

Sponsor Prizes - offered by sponsors to recognize a candidate's potential in dance. Each recipient receives a certificate and a gift item.
Health condition
AGP values physical and psychological health in dancers, which is essential to a long-term dance career.
(For Finals' candidates must provide accurate and up-to-date information regarding their condition of health by filling in a health questionnaire as part of the online registration.)
Attendance at class, variation competition, and seminars
Attendance at class, variation performance, and seminars listed on schedule for specific divisions and candidates is compulsory. Failure to attend compulsory activity will lead to disqualification from the competition.
Access for teachers and accompanying persons
Competition tickets and Class Viewing Passes may be purchased online or at the specific locations listed on the website. Availability and type of ticket and pass varies in each location.
Backstage entry is strictly for candidates only. Teachers and accompanying persons are not allowed to enter the backstage area.
Venue dimension and lighting
Venue dimension varies in different locations of AGP Global Regionals and Finals. Please refer to the information on the website. Lighting on stage is set as regular lighting.
Right of photographs, visual and audio recording
AGP assigns an official photographer and videographer. AGP owns the permanent right to all photographs, visual and audio recordings of the performance and participation of candidates during competition. Candidates agree to waive all rights to all recordings made by AGP or by any authorized third party on behalf of AGP, and allow such recordings to be used by AGP or authorized sponsors and third party for any form of promotional and commercial purpose. Photography and video filming by audience at the auditorium or in class studio of AGP Competition is forbidden.
Travel arrangement
Travel visa, expenses to attend the competition, and insurance against accidents, injury, illness and theft, are at participants’ own cost and responsibility.
Decision
AGP has the right to all final decisions of the rules and regulations, and the results of competition. Decision of Jury on distribution of any award, medal, scholarship and prize is final and irrevocable. AGP Jury reserves the right to offer or not to offer any published award, medal, scholarship or prize if no suitable candidate is identified.
A jury member, who either has worked closely with a candidate or is associated with the school of a candidate for the past three months, does not give a mark to this specific candidate during the competition.

AGP accepts no responsibility for any bodily injury, illness, death, medical treatment, property damage, accident or loss of property. Whilst all care will be taken, AGP holds harmless from any candidates, and on behalf of themselves, their heirs, any personal representatives any and all causes of action, claims, demands, damages, costs, expenses and compensation for damage or loss to themselves and/or property that may be sustained caused by any act, or failure to act of or that may otherwise arise in any way in connection with their attendance at the competition and other events sponsored by Asian Grand Prix Limited. This liability disclaimer extends to AGP together with all its members, and employees.

All candidates shall obey any reasonable direction by AGP. Any candidate failing to comply with this rule shall be liable to disqualification.
