Global Regional Jury Biography

Sylvia Wu graduated from the Teacher’s Training Course of the Royal Academy of Dance in  England in 1970. She attained the Solo Seal Award shortly thereafter. Upon her return to Hong Kong, she started her own school and worked for local TV stations as teacher and choreographer. She danced extensively both in Hong Kong and abroad performing principal roles in Giselle, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Swan Lake, La Sylphide, Les Sylphides and Firebird. In 1981, after dancing with Hagen Dance Theatre  in West Germany, she joined City Contemporary Dance Company, Hong Kong where she later became their Ballet Mistress.

 

Wu has been a guest teacher for Singapore Dance Theatre, Guangdong Dance Company, the Hong Kong Ballet, The Hong Kong Dance Company and The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. She was appointed as a major examiner since 1999 of The Royal Academy of Dance. She currently teaches and coaches in Hong Kong and overseas on freelance basis and acts as adjudicator in dance competitions.

 

Sylvia Wu 女士於1970年畢業於英國皇家舞蹈學院教師培訓課程。其後更她獲學院頒發Solo Seal獨舞獎。 回到香港後，她開辦了自己的學校，同時在本地電視台擔任教師和編舞、活躍於香港和國外的舞蹈演出，曾演出劇目有[吉塞爾]，[灰姑娘]，[睡美人]，[天鵝湖]，[仙凡之戀]，[仙女們]和[火鳥]。 1981年離開了西德哈根舞蹈劇院的舞蹈員工作並回港加入了香港城市當代舞蹈團，後來更成為舞團的訓練導師。

 

吳氐曾擔任新加坡舞蹈劇院，廣東舞蹈團，香港芭蕾舞團，香港舞蹈團及香港演藝學院的客席舞團導師。於1999年她被任命為皇家舞蹈學院的主要考官， 目前以自由職業者身份在香港和海外客席教授並擔任多個國際舞蹈比賽的評委員。
